Welcome to Webelos 2 Den

Den Number 5

Fifth Grade
       or 11-12 Yrs

Den Leader
       Pete Ireland

Our Goals  Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoor skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop.

Summary | The Webelos program has two major milestones - the Webelos rank badge to be earned at the 4th grade level and the Arrow of Light to be earned at the 5th grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop selected individually by the scout.

Is your Fifth Grader thinking about Scouts?
Then you probably have some questions...

Email the den leader at the link above and leave your phone number.  Den Leader's like to help parents too.

    Engineering Meeting 11/2/2014

Join us at my construction site to go over some of the requirements for the Engineer Activity.  We will learn the basics about what engineers do (and some of their occupations), how to draw a floor plan of your home (probably not to scale!), what a set of construction plans looks like, how property lines are set, and get to visit a rather large construction site.  We will however, have to stay in the more finished areas of the site and will not be able to tour the incomplete buildings.  Hope you are all able to make it.

Well, another scouting year is upon us.  Our boys are almost done with the Cub Scout program and are preparing for the transition to Boy Scouts.  My goal is for all of the boys to be in a position to make this transition, but it will take some effort on all of our parts.  I think everyone is in pretty good shape with regard to completing WeBeLoS activities, but we really need to hit the Arrow of Light requirements hard this Fall.
Receiving the Arrow of Light is important if your young Scout would like to immediately bridge into a Boy Scout Troop of his choosing.  This bridging will occur at the Blue and Gold Banquet this year, so we have less than 4 months to make sure this happens.
If your Scout has not yet decided on his future Troop, please do so in the coming months - as we plan on inviting the Scoutmasters from the respective Troops to participate in the Arrow of Light Ceremony.
Let's make sure our Scouts have a great year!
